Value of Poker Hands

Know The Value of Poker Hands: Win The Bet

Instincts rule the game. But more than the mere gut feeling; it is the calculations, probability and the power of observation that determine the winner. The fear of losing money at the poker table can be such that it can unnerve a player completely. Composure is something that is very much essential to fool other players and not give them an idea of your poker hand. It is the knowledge of both the game and the value of the poker hands that will help you dominate poker tables. The value of hands, though puzzling to a greenhorn, is relatively simple to understand.

Value of poker Hands: Know the Difference
Whatever combination of cards that a player gets, it is called his poker hand. The hand that has the highest value, wins the prize pot. You must therefore be familiar with the rules and regulations to know the value of hand and chance of winning and losing. Understanding the value of the cards and the value of the combinations is also necessary to minimize the loss. You must know exactly when to fold. There are quite a few winning combinations of cards and if you get any one of these combinations then you have a fair chance of winning the prize pot. Royal Flush is the best combination that any player can expect to get and it is extremely remotely possible that any other player will have another Royal Flush in the same game. When a player has got an Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 of the same suit, it is called the Royal Flush. This hand has the highest value. The next card combination in terms of value is Straight Flush. Here the cards are in the sequential order and all are of the same suit. Most poker games allow players to have more than five cards but it is the best five-card combination that determines the winning hand.

Value of other poker hands
Other than Royal Flush and Straight Flush, there are different card combinations that can be potent enough to give you a win. These hands are, however, of lesser value than the first two. In Four of a Kind, four cards of the same value like 8, 8, 8, 8, or King, King, King, King should be in the same hand. In Full House the combination is three of a kind along with a pair like 10, 10, 10 and 6, 6. If there are five cards of the same suit but not in sequential order, it is called Flush. A Straight hand means that the cards are in sequential order but not of the same suit. Three of a Kind means three cards are of the same value like 4, 4, and 4. In a Two Pair hand the player must have two sets of cards of equal value like 7, 7 and 9, 9. A Pair hand must have two cards of the same value. Understanding the value of poker hands can help a player win the much cherished prize pot.
